According to a recent study by RealtyTrac, North Carolina ranks among the fifteen lowest states in the nation for property taxes. That's good news for all of the people who plan to move here every year from Connecticut, New York and New Jersey-states that have some of the highest property taxes in the nation at 2.11%, 3.01% and 2.01% respectively. The average tax rate in North Carolina is .88%.


The Triangle area breaks down per county like this:

Wake County, .85%

Johnston County, .91%

Durham County, 1.18%

Orange County, 1.30%
