Over the next twelve months I hope to give you a guide to things you can do to keep your home in top condition. After all, it's the largest investment you'll ever make and spending a little time doing routine maintenance will help to keep it in great shape. Spreading things out over twelve months will make it easier to do too.
So let's get started for the month of May:
Interior: Clean the carpets; check and clean ceiling fans and reverse their direction for summer; clean and ventilate the basement or if you have a crawl space-open the vents; air out the attic and give it a good cleaning; consider donating items you haven't used in the past year. Change your furnace filters-you should do this on a monthly basis.
Exterior: Clean the windows, inside and out; plant flowers or shrubs; now is a good time to paint the exterior, if needed; clean the deck and repair or replace any loose boards; power wash the patio; get the pool ready for use; clean driveway and seal, if necessary; reseed any bare spots in the lawn and fertilize; refresh the mulch around plants and plant the vegetable garden; consider planting annuals in pretty pots leading to the front entry.
I hope the beginning of this series will help make keeping your new home at it's best a little easier and if you're still looking for that special place Get started today finding your new home.
