For those of you new to our area please know that the pollen is usually not this bad! Hopefully some Spring rain will wash a lot of it away. In the meantime, here are some tips for this month.
Interior: Change furnace filters. Once the pollen is gone it's time to wash your windows. Don't forget to wash the screens and tracks too. Repair any torn screens. Clean out closets and make room for summer clothes. You can start seedlings for herbs inside to plant in the garden in May. Check your fire extinguisher to be sure it's still in the "good" range.
Exterior: Check to see if the roof or the vinyl boots around any pipes in the roof needs repair. Clean out the garage. Power wash the deck, driveway and sidewalks. Check for mildew on siding and power wash that too. Get the grill ready for the warm weather and refill the propane tank, if applicable. Clean and place outdoor furniture. Check the irrigation system. Check retaining walls, fences and shrubs for any damage caused over the winter. Check the crawl space to be sure any condensation has egress and replace any vinyl covering that needs to be replaced. Fertilize and apply weed killer to the lawn.
